Microwave Leakage

Aintree Contracting provide Microwave Oven Radiation and Safety inspections using the latest technology available. We conduct a 3-point safety check on each microwave on your premises to ensure that they comply with Australian Safety Standards.

Microwave Radiation Testing

What is Microwave Oven Radiation?
Whenever a microwave oven is turned on, a high frequency radio wave is emitted,  which causes the water molecules in the food to vibrate. This rapid vibration produces heat within the food, which cooks the food. The energy produced by a microwave oven can also penetrate through living tissue which is why exposure is harmful to our health. Once you turn off the oven, the microwaves disappear but until then, you may be exposing yourself to dangerous levels of radiation leakage.

What causes microwave ovens to leak?
Dust dirt or food particles caught in the door seals and hinges preventing correct operation and containment, the oven door being slammed, or basic wear and tear all cause the oven door to slightly separate from the oven enclosure. Once this happens, invisible microwaves leak through the small space.

Aintree provide a microwave oven radiation leakage service to test your microwave oven for leakage under the Australian Standard AS/NZS 60335.2.25.

This includes:

  • An electrical safety test to ensure microwave ovens are compliant.

  • A physical damage inspection to ensure correct functioning and safety compliance to Australian Standards.

  • A radiation leakage inspection involving the measurement of radiation levels around the oven with a microwave specific meter.

A tag will be placed on the power lead for electrical safety and on the side of the microwave to show emissions compliance. A detailed inspection report will be provided via a cloud based link to your site portal.
